K-WTF?

This just stuns me beyond belief. I think it's the perfect example of a government agency that really has no clue what's going on.

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC)... the same FCC that enforces so-called "decency standards," the same FCC that fined CBS and its affiliates %5.5 million dollars for a glance at Janet Jackson's pastie-covered nipple...

That same FCC has released a list of 15 new television station call letters. And, oddly enough, the FCC doesn't find the call letters KUNT to be offensive at all. At least, not offensive enough to deny those letters to a television station in Hawaii.

Really?

Not surprisingly, the same media company which received KUNT also requested and received the call leters KWTF.

WTF, indeed.

In Case You Missed It...

I have no idea if this is for real or not... but it's pretty impressive, regardless.

If we're to believe everything we read on the internet... these are prisoners at a Filipino detention center, who learn elaborate choreography as part of their recreation activities. And Michael Jackson's "Thriller" is only the beginning. There are alo performances of "Radio Ga-Ga" by Queen, a song from the musical "Sister Act," and even a medly of Village People songs. Oh, and they also do that weird Japanese Rube-Goldbergian Hokey-Pokey-esque "Algorithm March."

Now, that's what I call rehabilitation!

Alas, Poor Bat-Boy...

Bat Boy!
I just found out that one of my favorite trashy rags "The World's Only Reliable Newspaper," the Weekly World News, is shutting down.

Wherever will Bat Boy go?
Perhaps now, he'll have enough free time to make his triumphant return to Broadway.

Who You Gonna Call?

Our friend Andrew thinks that his apartment may be haunted. And the associate producers at our station believe that the loft where we store file video is haunted.

Good thing that florida is the home to a team of real-life "Ghostbusters," called (what else?) the "Spirit Team."

Bilingual Blogger

So here's something interesting. Apparently, Blogger has a function that allows you to auto-translate a piece of text into Hindi. Now, I don't speak Hindi... but I find it fascinating that I can type English words in Hindi.

And here's the best part... you'll have no idea whatsoever what I'm writing! I can reveal my deepest, darkest secrets and you'll never know! Muah-ha-ha!

Welcome to Springfield!

Ever wonder what you'd look like as a "Simpsons" character?

The new website for the Simpsons Movie has an avatar creator which allows you to make a Simpsons character in your image. Even better, it'll plunk your character right in the middle of Moe's Tavern.

Hmmm... Guess which one is me?

By the way, I really don't like the way that Homer is looking at me. He's creeping me out.

Golden Anniversary

Fifty years ago, a cinematic masterpiece was released. It didn't win an Oscar, didn't star Katherine Hepburn or Kirk Douglas. It didn't even last seven minutes. But it's been one of my favorites for at least half of those fifty years, and I know that a lot of you love it, too.

This afternoon, I read a fantastic article in the Star, celebrating Chuck Jones' Wagnerian Masterpiece, "What's Opera Doc?"

To quote Steve Watt, the article's author:

"Bugs Bunny cartoons are not supposed to feature a lisping Viking rabbit hunter enthusiastically professing his operatic love for a bunny in drag."

And yet, when it happened, it became recognized as the greatest cartoon in history.

Take seven minutes, and check it out:

Eat your heart out, Anna Russell.

In Case You Missed It: Part III

In just the last week or two, it seems the whole world has discovered the "Dramatic Chipmonk" (Who's actually a prairie dog):

Seriously... I could watch that thing over and over and over again.
But just to make it interesting, there are several other versions of the dramatic prairie dog....

The James Bond Version
The Dr. Evil Version
and the CSI: Miami Version, which really only makes me laugh because David Caruso is by far the worst actor to ever earn a steady paycheck.
